Stratford upon Avon and Bourton

Visited William Shakespeare's birthplace and gravesite in Stratford upon Avon. This was a wonderful little town full of people and things to do. So sad we couldn't stay longer. We took a tour of Shakespeare's home and had a short lunch before moving on to Anne Hathaway's cottage. Hathaway was Shakespeare's wife. The home in which she lived is known to be "the most romantic place in all of England." It was beautiful and full of sweet smelling gardens. Afterwards we went to Bourton on the water. This was my favorite place that I have been to thus far. It is a quaint town on the water full of tea shops and parks. We had traditional cream tea at The Mad Hatter. Traditional cream tea comes with a pot of tea, scones, clotted cream, and jam. It was delicious and delightful. Afterwards, we played by the water and watched a rubber duck race. Aftewards, we were approached by some drunken Morris Dancers who joked with us before performing the traditional Morris Dance.
